There seems to be some problems with the Internet at Hinata Inn today. But it seems to be working now. It comes and goes. I don't know what the real problem is, since I'm not a techy type of person. Anyway, for the mean time, I hope it stays on.

I never knew being away would be this hard

Yesterday was so lame and boring. I guess I've been so used to celebrating the Valentine's Day, but nothing happened since I'm currently on the field. It's not like I missed a big deal out of something. I just feel left out. The irony is that I wanted to give Kei-chan something special too. But I'm nowhere near Tokyo. I guess I won't expect anything for golden week. Okay, enough about this. Time to get back to work. There's just
four more days of field work left.

I've been away from my family for a long time already. But being away from the folks of Hinata Inn is different. It's like I've been missing out on crazy and fun stuff for a while that it's stirring me crazy.

"Argh. My bunk bed is so tough." I miss my old room.

missery

I feel so lame right now. I didn't even give anything to Keitaro despite that it's Valentine's day. Keitaro even brought me chocolates, flowers and a stuffed toy. How can I beat that?!

Ugh. Shinobu-chan baked him a chocolate cake. Kana-chan gave him chocolates too. Even Mutsumi-san stopped by and gave Keitaro a chocolate ice-cream; it's still February and it's cold but the thought counts! I didn't do anything! No, what's more surprising is that Kitsune-san made an effort to give something to Keitaro! Her too?! I'm really lame right now. I totally ignored the importance of today. I thought that today wouldn't be important, but I made a mistake.

akimashite omedetou

I didn't know Kitsune-san stayed at Keitaro's house during the Christmas break. That was a big surprise to me. I felt a bit left out, but I'm certainly not jealous, okay? Maybe I'm just a little disappointed because my break and new year wasn't out of the ordinary. And they seem to be working on a book together too. I have a feeling that they really had a great time last week. Which sounds misleading.

Anyway, what am I doing? It's the new year and here I am ranting about missing out. I pray that this year would be great. I pray that guidance envelope me. I pray for protection and strength. And I pray for success this 2013. Onward to getting that degree!

a wish?

Shinobu-chan's smart to remember her birthday. It was hard preparing a surprise birthday party for her. At first we thought about distracting her away from the apartment while Keitaro prepares the food. He's in charge and to be frank, there's no one else qualified to make good food around here. It's a crime that this guy's a better cook than I am.

Her birthday was a success. Shinobu-chan was surprised to see a lot of guests in the lobby when she came back from school. To be honest, I was most surprised at Keitero's cooking. That's it. Consider him sued. But there's something I noticed today. I noticed Shinobu-chan was sticking to Keitaro wherever he went.

These will do

It's depressing now that the sun would set around 4pm. It's been gloomy for four weeks, that we haven't been able to see a clear sky. I'm waiting for a sunny day this November. The sun doesn't have much air time. Not only that everyday is cloudy, the sun doesn't rise early and then the sun sets around 4pm, it's really depressing. It is fall season.

I'm ranting. But Christmas is coming.

I bought a new scarf today. It has a checkered pattern of yellow and red orange. It stood out in the department store when I happened to pass by the mall. It was the only one of its kind left. I bought Keitaro a scarf too. I hope he likes it. I'm not sure if he would take it as a big deal. It's just a scarf. But I really hope he likes it.

There's a lot of people outside this November. What's the rush? Isn't it early to be Christmas shopping? But the atmosphere around the city sure has changed. The atmosphere in the Hinata Sou drastically changed as well. I can't seem to put my finger on how much things changed. For one, Kanako-chan is getting along with everyone.

I forgot! Shinobu-chan's birthday is coming up! That would distract me away from the gloomy weather and the whole daylight savings time.

where do I turn to?

I don't know if we should laugh or cry, but the timing is impeccable. The Internet in Hinata Inn is down. Keitaro, Shinobu-chan and Kaolla-chan are gone. I don't know how to troubleshoot the blinking contraption. We've already called the ISP, but I don't really understand their instruction. The technician can't come unless there the decision maker is present, who is Keitaro. So there won't be anyone surfing the web through wifi for a couple of days.

I'm not complaining, but Kitsune-san is. She was really grumpy. I think she went downtown and stayed there all day. She probably went to one of the net cafes to get her fix of the worldwide web.

The only thing that really makes me mad is the idea that I was left behind. I want to go with Keitaro to this trip, but it's clear that Shinobu-chan invited him to go. She really wants to spend some time with Keitaro. I understand. Still... I want to go too.

When he comes home, I'll make sure that he'll make it up to me. It's so depressing without him. It's become boring too. There's no Keitaro, no Internet, no school, what should I do?

Profile: Naru Narusegawa

Naru Narusegawa (Narusegawa Naru) is a 17-year old student at Keitaro's cram school with an extremely fiery temper. Naru is a boarder at the Hinata House, in Room 304.

Of all the girls in the Hinata House, Keitaro manages to annoy her the most, usually by accidentally grabbing her in unfortunate places or walking in on her while she is naked. Naru's appearance is based Beautiful Nerd archetype in dating sim games, with the twist she is actually very cantankerous.

Despite her temper and frequent violence toward Keitaro, she develops strong feelings for him, though she has great difficulty in admitting her feelings even to herself. She is prone to extremely strong jealous reactions whenever Keitaro appears to be getting too close (physically or emotionally) to other girls.

Despite the fact that she was only two years old at the time, she and Keitaro promised to go to Tokyo University together, though being two years old she didn't remember for quite a while (this is why Mutsumi made the same promise with her - see Mutsumi's entry).

Naru is highly intelligent; at the start of the series, she is #1 in Japan on the practice entrance exams. Just a few years earlier, however, she was in almost exactly the same position Keitaro was in - horrible grades and no hope of getting into Tokyo U. She was able to overcome her problems by studying with a Tokyo University student, Noriyasu Seta, whom she developed a serious crush on.

Naru had made a promise three times to get into Tokyo University. First with Keitaro, then with Mutsumi and finally with Seta when he was tutoring her.

She owns a Liddo-kun doll which a friend (Mutsumi Otohime) gave her when she was young.

Narusegawa Naru is studying to get into Tokyo Daigaku (Tokyo University, aka Toudai) to fulfill a dream... and a promise. To get there, and to avoid the distraction of her parent being remarried, she moves to the hot springs resort-turned-girls dormitory Hinata-Sou.

Very beautiful, incredibly smart, and wonderfully sweet, but terribly near-sighted and horrendously short-tempered, she soon encounters the new would-be manager Urashima Keitaro, but she protests the idea of having such a "pervert" being in close contact with her. Though she actually cares for Keitaro a lot, when she isn't sending him flying into stratosphere with her notorious running punches when he accidentally sees more of her than he should.

She often wears thick glasses, sweaters, and braids when going to cram school to deter attention from guys.
